PlayStation Store, Xbox Store or Nintendo eShop: where is the same game cheapest?

Many games are sold on the PlayStation Store, the Xbox Store and the Nintendo eShop. We check each store's price for every game about once a week, so we set the three side by side: 2,180 games that all three stores list.

The PlayStation Store was cheapest for half of them

Usual price, before any sale1,101 (51%)245 (11%)183 (8%)651 (30%)

Sales are not what puts PlayStation ahead. Even at each store's usual price, it was alone at the bottom for half the games, and the other two stores were rarely cheaper: the Xbox Store for 11% and the eShop for 8%. For three games in ten the usual price was the same everywhere.

What this means if you buy games

For a game on several consoles, the PlayStation Store was usually the cheapest of the three, but not always: No Man's Sky was less than half the price on Xbox and Switch on the day we checked, because the other two stores had it on sale. A sale on one store can undo the usual order, so check each game's page for the stores' prices side by side, with the lowest we've recorded.

How we counted

We matched stores by game, not by console version: a game's PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo prices are the stores' listings for it, so a store may list a different version (for example a PS5 release against a Switch port). We left out listings whose name marks a special edition (deluxe, collector's, ultimate, definitive, bundle or similar). Each price is from the game's latest weekly check, 31 October to 7 November 2026, so a sale that began or ended in between can change one result. Prices are in pounds from each store's own listing.
